Bitcoin is trading at about $80,768 on November 5, up 0.4% since midnight UTC, in a day range of $80,217 to $80,890. That calm surface hides a sharp rejection and a sharp recovery. Sellers pushed price below $76,000, swept CME futures lows at $75,795, with spot lows at $76,260 to $76,450, and still failed to hold the breakdown. Futures then closed at $77,905, and price ran back to $81,460.

That sequence is why $81,460 is now the hurdle. It is the high of the November 4 four-hour candle, which opened at $78,535, reached $81,460 and closed at $80,655 on volume of 5,468 contracts. The last completed four-hour close was $80,925. Bulls have reclaimed the range, but they have not yet proved they can hold above the level that capped the recovery.

The order book tells the same story

At the time of writing, the bid wall sits at 80,750 with 267 BTC, while the ask wall sits at 81,400 with 338 BTC. Liquidation walls cluster at an upper level of 80,750, a lower level of 80,250, and a flip level of 80,500. In plain terms, price is trapped in a tight band, and the first decisive move through either wall is likely to trigger liquidations that accelerate the next leg.

Derivatives data adds context. Funding is +0.0100% per eight hours, a mildly positive rate that suggests longs are paying shorts, but not at an extreme that usually marks a blow-off top. Open interest stands at 40,668 BTC, worth about $3.28 billion. That is a large, leveraged market sitting on top of a narrow range, which is exactly when a break of $81,460 or $79,040 tends to move fast.

Support and resistance: the levels that matter

Support is at $80,160 to $80,465, then the pivot at $79,040. Resistance is $81,460, then $82,270. Beyond that, traders are watching zones at $80,750 to $80,900, $81,850 to $81,975, and $82,050 to $82,150. The $81,850 area is especially important, because it lines up with the midline of the Gaussian channel, which has been red since March. A break above $81,460 that stalls at $81,850 would still leave the longer-term channel bearish.

The $76,000 level is not just a round number. It is the short-term holder cost basis, with the short-term holder MVRV at about 1.02. That means the average recent buyer is only just above water. When price swept below $76,000 and failed, it flushed weak hands without breaking the cost-basis floor. That is a classic failed-breakdown pattern, and it is why the recovery has been taken seriously, even though the broader trend indicators are still cautious.

The bigger picture is still cautious

Weekly support comes from the 21-week exponential moving average at $76,874 and the 20-week simple moving average at $73,779. Daily RSI is at 38, and the Supertrend has been red since May. Those indicators do not turn bullish because of one recovery candle. They say the downtrend is still in place until price reclaims higher levels and holds them.

Short-term sentiment is also mixed. Over 24 hours, Bitcoin is up 4.74% to $80,758.52, yet 65.53% of traders favour Sell. The 24-hour range forecast is $80,237 to $80,794, the seven-day range is $68,331 to $84,769, and the weekly target is about $87,395. That wide seven-day range shows how much uncertainty remains: a move to $87,000 is possible if $81,460 breaks, but so is a fall back toward $68,000 if support fails.

What happens next?

If bulls clear $81,460 and hold above it, the next test is $82,270, then the $85,000 to $87,000 supply zone. That zone is where sellers have previously stepped in, and it is the area that would need to break for a genuine trend change. If bears regain control, the downside cluster is $73,000 to $74,000, then about $71,000, with a May-style repeat pointing as low as $60,000 in the worst case. Neither outcome is guaranteed, which is why the $79,040 to $81,460 range is the battleground to watch first. Whichever side breaks first will likely set the tone for the rest of the week.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the key resistance for Bitcoin now?

$81,460, the high of the November 4 four-hour candle, followed by $82,270 and the $81,850 Gaussian channel midline.

What is the key support?

$80,160 to $80,465 first, then the $79,040 pivot. Below that, $76,000, the short-term holder cost basis, and weekly support at $76,874 (21-week EMA) and $73,779 (20-week SMA).

Why did the $76,000 sweep matter?

CME futures swept $75,795 and spot lows reached $76,260 to $76,450, but sellers failed to hold the breakdown. With short-term holder MVRV at about 1.02, that failed breakdown flushed weak hands without breaking the cost-basis floor.

What would change the trend?

A hold above $81,460, then $82,270, would open the $85,000 to $87,000 supply zone. A loss of $79,040 would point back to the $73,000 to $74,000 cluster, then about $71,000.
