Bitcoin Bounces Back Above $80,000 on 27 October

Bitcoin recovered above $80,000 on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, after an early dip below that level, as US spot Bitcoin ETFs returned to inflows ahead of the Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision on Wednesday.

Bitcoin closed the UTC day at $80,795, up 0.8% from its $80,119 open, after trading in a $79,400–$81,150 range, according to market-close data. Ethereum ended at $2,347, up 1.0%. The total crypto market capitalisation stood at $2.67 trillion, up 1.0% over 24 hours, with Bitcoin holding a 60.6% share.

The recovery was broad but cautious. Of the 50 largest crypto assets tracked, 28 rose and 16 fell, with a median move of just 0.3%. Zcash (ZEC) was the standout among the top 30, rising 6.0% to $1,310.

A Morning Dip, Then a Slow Recovery

Early on Tuesday, Bitcoin slipped back under $80,000 to near $79,700, down 0.4% since midnight UTC, CoinDesk reported. Ether fell 0.5% at that point, while the DeFi index dropped 1.8%, the most of any CoinDesk index.

Crypto also missed a rally in Asian technology shares, where South Korea's Kospi rose 3.1%. US crude approached $102 a barrel, adding to macro pressure on risk assets.

By the afternoon, the tone had changed. Ethereum led the majors with a rise of 1.77% to $2,347 in one delayed snapshot, Bitcoin gained 1.16% to $80,812, and Solana added 0.94% to $101.15. The moves were not large enough to change the week's cautious character, but they stopped the slide.

ETF Inflows Return After Two Days of Outflows

A key support for the bounce was ETF demand. US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $110 million on Monday, according to Farside Investors data cited by CoinDesk, ending two days of outflows.

That matters because ETF flows have been uneven. Spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $635.6 million of outflows on 22 October, and Strategy paused its Bitcoin buying last week, according to market reports. A return to inflows suggests renewed investor confidence, even if the amount is modest compared with recent outflows.

The Fed Decision Is the Next Big Test

The Federal Reserve began a two-day meeting on Tuesday, with its interest-rate decision due on Wednesday. CME's FedWatch tool showed around a 90% chance of no change, CoinDesk reported.

For crypto traders, the statement's tone may matter more than the decision itself. Markets will look for clues about whether another rate increase is likely before year-end, especially with oil near annual highs and central banks in Europe and Japan also expected to hold while signalling that hikes remain possible.

Analysts quoted in market coverage say holding the $80,000 region would be encouraging for buyers and could open the door to a recovery toward $85,000. A sustained move above $87,000 would be a stronger sign that buyers are regaining control. On the downside, a slip under $79,000 could put $75,500 in play.
