USDC has overtaken USDT in euro stablecoin trading, reaching a 56% share. That shift is a direct consequence of Europe's MiCA framework, which has reshaped which stablecoins exchanges and users in the region can readily access and trade.

Under MiCA, compliance is no longer a side issue for stablecoin issuers. A compliant, euro-accessible offering can gain trading share quickly, while a non-compliant rival can lose ground even if it remains larger globally. The euro market is therefore becoming a test case for how regulation redistributes stablecoin activity.

For traders, the 56% figure matters because liquidity follows the compliant venue and pair. Deeper USDC euro liquidity can mean tighter spreads and easier on- and off-ramps for euro-based users, reinforcing the lead once it is established.

The question now is whether this euro lead spreads. If MiCA-style rules become a template elsewhere, USDC's compliance-first positioning could keep paying off. If not, the euro shift may remain a regional story rather than a global changing of the guard.
