When you trade crypto with leverage, you borrow money to take a bigger position than your balance allows. If the price moves against you far enough, the exchange automatically closes your position to stop further losses — that forced closure is a liquidation.
Your margin is gone, and the position is closed whether you like it or not. This week alone, over $1 billion in leveraged positions was liquidated in 24 hours, with longs taking the biggest hit.

🚨 BREAKING: Bitcoin is testing its 50-week moving average — trading near $76,000, just 0.6% above the $75,580 line traders watch as the long-term trend signal.
Bitcoin fell 5.5% on Thursday, from about $80,100 to $75,700, its biggest single-day loss since June. It has closed above the 50-week average for seven straight weeks — Sunday's weekly close on Nov 8 decides whether the streak reaches eight. Galaxy's Alex Thorn notes that in four of the last five completed bear markets, the first break of this average marked the bottom.
