STOCKS | American Airlines: record revenue, but fuel costs weigh on profits

American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL) reported Q3 2026 revenue of $16.3 billion, up 19.3% year over year.

The company still recorded a $269 million GAAP net loss. Its adjusted net loss was $182 million, or $0.28 per share, while quarterly fuel expense rose $1.9 billion year over year.

The results show why revenue growth and profitability need to be read together. This update reports company results, not a prediction of AAL’s share price.
