  • 🤖 Texas is putting the brakes on new data centres.

Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa told CNN on Thursday that Texas will stop new data-centre projects until laws are in place to protect Texans — saying the sites have moved into rural communities with "no rules and laws to protect Texans."

Texas is the second-biggest data-centre hub in the US: 80+ centres already operating, 50 under construction and 120+ planned. Hinojosa takes office on Jan 19, 2027, and says any partnership with the industry — including Elon Musk's companies — will be on "our terms."

The crackdown is already rattling AI stocks: CoreWeave fell 9.9% and Nvidia 3.17% on Nov 4, and at least 33 US cities voted this week to rein in data-centre building.
