🚨 Sony just smashed expectations! The Japanese entertainment giant reported a 45% jump in Q2 operating profit to ¥622.3 billion ($3.95B) — well above the ¥505B analysts expected — powered by its games division and the hit movie "Spider-Man: Brand New Day".

Sony also raised its full-year profit outlook by 9%, and lifted the outlook for its chips and music divisions too. Shares closed up 7% ahead of the earnings report.

With Grand Theft Auto VI launching on November 19, Sony's games business is set for another big boost — though rising memory chip prices from the AI boom remain a headwind.
