OpenAI has closed the first $11 billion of its new funding round at a $1.25 trillion valuation, Bloomberg reported Friday — well short of the $30 billion+ it originally sought, with the valuation cut from $1.4 trillion as AI stocks sold off.
UAE investors led the round, and the rest of the round could bring the total to $20 billion in the coming weeks. At $1.25 trillion, OpenAI would be the most valuable private company ever — up from $852 billion in its March round.
