Zcash's landmark NU7 upgrade is LIVE! Block times cut from 75 seconds to just 25 — private payments now confirm 3x faster.
The upgrade activated at block 3,543,405 today: block subsidy cut by two-thirds, 60% of transaction fees now flow into a new Network Sustainability Mechanism, and the original Sprout privacy pool is retired — leaving around 12,224 ZEC (about $16M) unspendable. ZEC traded around $1,250–$1,300, holding firm while the wider crypto market sold off.
